KYAAAAAAAAA ???? SHAAADI   KAL?

Dadi looked wide- eyed!! The hyper Mrs. Sharma just sank into the nearest chair. Ram looked around perplexed. Priya ran to her mother..

Priya: Ma…tum theek toh ho na?

Shipra: Hein??? Tum log..thoda jaldi nahin bata sakte the? Ab main kal kya pehnoon??

Everyone burst out laughing at Shipra’s innocence!

Sudhir: Shipra…kabhi toh Priya ke baare mein socha karo..kal uski shaadi hai…tumhein apni saree ki padi hai..how do we make arrangements so soon? Ram ek baat kahoon?

Ram: Ji kahiye..

Sudhir: Why can’t we have a nice engagement ceremony tomorrow and plan the wedding nicely at a later date..yeh kuch jaldi nahin hua? Hamne koi bhee tayyaari nahin ki hai.

Ram: Sir..why are you worried about the preparations? Vikram and Neha have arranged for everything. Haan, I know yeh jaldi hai aapke liye..but we have waited for a long long time. Please understand sir. Also, both Priya and I want a quiet wedding- koi shor sharaba ya publicity ki zaroorat nahin hai..just close family and friends. I just ask you to give me my life sir..and all your blessings.

Sudhir’s eyes well up with tears. He simply nods.

Dadi: Yeh nahin ho sakta!!!!

Ram: Kyaaaaaaa?

Dadi: Yeh shaadi ..

Ram: WHYYYYYYYYYYY??? All these years you all wanted me to marry aur ab mein shadi karna chahta hoon you are saying no..kyun aise keh rahe hain Dadi?

Dadi: Arrey teri engagement bhee nahin hui hai ab tak…seedha shaadi? Mehendi nahin..haldi nahin..kya hai yeh sab?

Ram pulls Priya..makes her open her palm…her beautiful Mehendi is on display..

Shipra: Heeeeeeeeeeeeein…Priya…Ram ke naam ki Mehendi….ab samjhi kyun tumne mere eye-shadow ki baat ki…badmash ho tum donon.

Priya blushes..Ram looks at her with loads of love..

Ram: Dadi..please..dekhiye ab Natasha aur Karthik US chale jayenge 6 months ke liye..I don’t want to wait anymore ok?

Dadi: Toh theek hai..let us atleast have a small engagement ceremony.. Oye uss pandit ko bulao..acha koi jaake angoothi leke aao..

Ram goes to Dadi kneels down in front of her..

Ram: Dadi..aap itna pareshan math hoyiye..rings hain mere paas..bas aap sab ashirwad dijiye hamein.

Krishnaji: Ram..we did have a lot of dreams but after you have said so much, I think it is not fair to keep you both waiting. Toh kya hua? We can have a reception later..I know you want to spend time with Priya.

Ram scratches his temple and blushes!

Ram: Maa aap kaise jaanthe hain?

Krishnaji: Main teri ma hoon..mujhe patha hai aur tu kitna blush kar raha hai haaye haaye !

Ram: Ma…aap bhee na!

The pandit came and joined the discussion and informed them of the muhurat time and discussed some arrangements with the elders. Ram looked at Priya and let out a huge sigh of relief.

Ram( whispers) Thank goodness Priya..sab acha hua. And we have got the go ahead from our families, not that they would have objected anyway! I mean..itna acha damaad hoon, reject karne ka sawaal hee nahin utthaa na biwi?

Priya ( smiles) Haan bilkul..mein bhee itni buri bhee nahin hoon :P

Dadi: Oye..Kal shadi hai..uske baat dher saare baatein karna..ab yahaan aa jaa..

Ram ( mutters to Priya) Baatein? Yeh  Dadi bhee na! Who has the time!!!

Priya: Shhhh Ram!!!

They all went outside and Krishnaji announced..

Krishnaji: I am here to make a very very happy announcement. Today our Natasha and Karthik have got married..there is another wedding that is going to happen shortly..and we are going to have an small engagement ceremony now. It is a huge surprise to all of us, but one that has made both families so happy! A bond that has made us come even closer!

There was a buzz….the guests wondered who was going to get engaged..Ram slowly walked  in and said..

Ram: Sorry to keep you all waiting…I wanted to share a very happy news with you all. I have finally found my soulmate. There is a little song I would like to sing for her..she has come to my life and given me so much happiness. She is divine..just like music..this is for my love..my life…MY PRIYA..

He took Priya by her arm and walked slowly..went down on his knees ring in his hand..

Ram: Priya..will you marry me? I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I love you beyond reason and promise to keep you happy always.

Priya ( tears falling freely) I love you Ram..I will marry you and live my life with you. There is nothing more I need in life Ram, you know that.

Ram took Priya’s hand and slipped the beautiful diamond ring on her elegant finger and took it and kissed her hand. Priya blushed and took a matching ring and slipped it into Ram’s finger. 

Ram looked at Priya and held her shoulders. He looked proud with Priya by his side. She gazed lovingly into his eyes.

The guests burst out into applause..Vikram and Neha came running to hug them both. Krishnaji, Sudhir and Shipra wiped their tears.

Sudhir: We could never have looked for a better match for Priya..they are made for each other and maybe that is why they waited for so long! God bless them both.

Ram did not let go of Priya’s hands..she was his..ok just a day more..but this wait was killing him now..God why couldn’t this night pass soon?

Everybody and every conversation was just out of focus for Ram and Priya..Maybe the rest of the world did not exist at all!

In all this excitement Ram and Priya did notice Karthik and Natasha waiting to get away!

Ram took Priya’s hands and they walked towards the bride and groom.

Priya: Raaam..hath chodiye na..

Ram: Kyun? Ab toh sab jaanthe hain..kyun chodoon?

Priya: Raaaaaam please..

Ram (winking) Please what Priya??? Arrey you are my biwi..haan haan like you say duniya ke liye kal se..but you have always been mine Priya..ab kabhi bhi iss haat ko nahin chodunga ok?

Priya: Ram…I know..aur mein bhee nahin chodungi aapke haath..bas aapka saath chahiye..nothing else Ram.

They both walked to Natasha and Karthik.

Ram: Chotiiiiiiiiiiii..dekhoon toh you are looking sooooooooooooo beautiful..cannot imagine ki the little squirming bundle in my arms a few years ago is now this beautiful bride. Aur dekh raha hoon ki tum donon bahut bechain ho yahaan se nikalne ke liye ;)

Natasha and Karthik blushed.

Karthik: Sir..aise koi baat nahin hai..

Ram: Sir Karthik?? Mein tumhara Jiju hoon..call me Jiju ok? I am not your boss..your boss is your biwi!!

Priya nudged  Ram.. shhhhh Ram hamesha mazaak karthe hain..Natasha looked at Ram and Priya..

Natasha: Bhai mujhe toh lagta hai wahaan bhee bechaini kuch kam nahin hai..Par not fair bhai..you should have atleast hinted na? Tell me when did you fall in love with Priya?

Ram: Oye..meri love story chod..ab it is time for you to go to your husband’s house and start your life Choti..my little one has grown up now..be happy always Choti.

Ram: Karthik…look after my sister ok? I know you will..but she is special to me.

Karthik: Yes Jiju..I shall..Natasha is my life.

Ram hugged Karthik.

Ram: Chalo ab tum donon..bidai ka time ho gaya..and waise kal subah 9.30 am shaadi hai…so don’t oversleep ok? He laughs loudly.

Natasha: Bhaaaaaaaaaaai…aap kitna embarrass kar rahe ho..wait kal aap donon ki baari ayegi tab dekh lungi..

There was a lot more teasing and the mood became a little sombre with Natasha and Karthik getting ready to start their lives together as husband and wife. Natasha took the blessings of all her elders..hugged Krishnaji and Dadi..left teary-eyed with Karthik who was wondering what to do…he could not handle her tears..maybe, he thought none of the men could!

Priya took leave from everyone as well.

Krishnaji: Beta…jaldi aa jao..this home waits for its Lakshmi to come.

Ram: See you Priya..looked deep into her eyes..smiled and mouthed ‘phone’!

Priya nodded and smiled back.

It was a long night….finally the wait would be over. Priya went home took off her make-up and jewellery..her ring dazzled. She took her diary and wrote:

Today..I write as Ms Priya Sharma for the last time..I will be Mrs Priya Ram Kapoor from tomorrow..It does sound so good. Ram- what can I say? My friend, my philosopher and guide..Life did make us wait to find each other, but I can say Ram is the answer to my prayers. Ram completes me..he is my soulmate. I wonder as a girl who is getting married and leaving her parent’s home tomorrow, shouldn’t I be nervous or scared or sad? I strangely feel calm and happy- I know that my life and happiness lies with Ram. I will miss ma and papa but I am happy that I am going where I belong- Mind, body and soul. I never thought marriage was for me but now I know why I waited for so long, why no one ever touched my soul. I will be his forever…just a few hours more!

Priya smiled and walked to the balcony..moonlight shone through the trees in the garden..her thoughts went back to one such night when she saw Ram for the first time. Her Ram!

Ram called Priya..

Ram: ( softly) heyyyyyyyyy biwi..soyi nahin ab tak?

Priya: Nahin Ram..aapke baare mein soch rahi thee..neend kaise aayegi?

Ram: Oh so you are also standing and watching the moon and thinking of the time our eyes met for the first time?

Priya: Aap yeh kaise jaanthe? Raaaam don’t tell me you are here!!!

Ram: Priya..relax..nahin I am at the farmhouse but haan I know you are thinking of me just the way I am thinking of you. I am glad you came into my life Priya..just a few hours more..I just can’t wait. Priya ab bahut der ho gayi so jao…akele..for the last time!! Kal se na akeli soyegi na sone doonga ;)

Priya: Raaaam..aap bhee na!

Ram: Arrey sach toh hai..ok go and sleep now Darling..kal haq se le jaaunga tumhein. Love you. Good night.

Priya: I love you too Ram..good night..

The night drifted slowly and turned into an enchanting dawn..a dawn that was about to bring in loads of happiness and love..a lifetime of togetherness….a day that was most awaited…their wedding…Finally!!!

Deep  know you are all eagerly waiting for this update..Natasha’s wedding and Ram and Priya’s wedding announcement. So, did Ram inform the family..what were the reactions? And what happened next…here I am with the next update!!

Update 22

Ram spent the rest of the night tossing and turning after all it was not everyday that his Choti was getting married and he was about to announce his intentions of marrying Priya to the whole family! He got out of bed with a spring in his step..finally the D day arrived which would change his life . He dressed with care. The purple sherwani looked unconventional but Ram looked at himself critically as he combed his floppy hair ..he knew his Priya would drool at him today..he did look handsome!!!

Priya had butterflies in her stomach. She was up very early to get ready for Kathik and Natasha’s wedding..she looked at her Mehendi-coloured hands..it was deep red..it had to be- Ram loved her so much! Shipra was flitting up and down the house giving orders, hunting for various accessories and of course doing and re-doing her make-up! Priya looked at all this with amusement! She loved her mother to bits but her hyper behaviour was the family joke!

Sudhir: Shipra..shadi hamare bête ki hai..humaari nahin..tum toh dulhan jaisi saj rahi ho!

Shipra: Sudhir..yeh kya aap bhee na! Hamesha mujhe chedthe rehthe ho!

Sudhir: Haan chedoonga..haq hai mera..waise tum bahut achi lag rahi ho aaj!

Karthik: Haaye haaye papa..lagta hai mujhe aapse seekhna padega..itne saalon ke baad bhi  itna pyar..

Shipra: Oho…Dulha aa gaya..Karthik beta..tum bahut hee handsome lag rahe ho aaj..meri nazar na lage! Waise na tu apne papa se seekh kaise khush rakhte hain patni ko!! Acha Priya kahan hai?

Priya came out of her room..her mauve netted saree draped to perfection..her mehendi coloured palms..bangles making their own music..make up as usual flawless.

Shipra just gaped at her with delight..Sudhir looked at Shipra with pride.

Sudhir( thinking) Priya…today is Karthik’s wedding. When are we going to see  you dressed as a bride? How will I find someone worthy enough?

Shipra: Priyaaaaa..you are looking stunning..when you chose to wear this saree, mujhe laga why is she choosing something so dull. But seriously, when I see it draped on you..I know mein galath thee. You look gorgeous! Par yeh kya..baal aise hee khula chod diya..why not pile it up or do something with it? Arrey where did that beautician go?

Priya: Maaaaa…chodo na..this is nice.. (thinking) Ram loves my hair this way..I won’t pile it up for anyone!!!

Shipra: Priya….tumhaari mehendi toh badi achi rang laaye hai..haaye haaye I am sure jahaan bhee hai..woh tumhein bahut pyar karega..Mr Damaadji jaldi aayiye na!!!

Priya: Maaaaa kitna drama karthi ho tum?

Shipra: Acha mehendi toh dikha mujhe..

Priya (thinking) ooops how can I show it..beautician ne Ram ka naam jo likh diya..Priya..before ma just pulls your hand..haan idea!!

Priya: Ma ..mujhe lagta hai aapka eyeshadow thoda better ho sakta hai..go and check it na before we leave..I will go and see if everything is in order..uffffffff bach gayi as a worried Shipra goes in search of a mirror!!!

The Sharmas arrived  at the Farmhouse where the wedding was  to take place. The baraat was warmly welcomed by the Kapoors..Ram hugged his brother-in-law to be and took the blessings of the Sharmas..but all the while looking at his biwi..

Ram( thinking) Oh maaaan..there she is aur woh bhee netted saree mein..how can a man function when she looks soooooo beautiful? He greeted everyone but had a special smile with a wink reserved for Priya..

Priya looked at Ram, eyebrow raised..saw him winking and blushed..God this man..don’t know what is going on in his head!!!

Ram: Hiiii Priya..you are looking very nice..as always! (thinking) how I wish I could just carry you away right now and get married!!!

Priya: Hi Raaam..you are looking very nice too! ( thinking) yeah right looking very nice..handsome..looking like a gazillion bucks..ab kya bolun sab yahaan khade hain!! Ram hope this day gets over..I can’t keep pretending like this anymore!!

The guests were  looked after very warmly and the wedding ceremony began..Natasha looked ravishing in her maroon and gold lehenga. Priya was busy looking after guests talking to them seeing if they were comfortable. Ram was busy in another corner talking to guests but had eyes for the lady in the Mauve creation- His lady in the mauve creation..Gosh he was going to blabber something idiotic to the guests..he had to concentrate..but how??? She was just drawing him towards her!!! As the pandit started reciting the mantras Ram casually walked upto Priya..

Ram: Don’t do this…

Priya: What?

Ram: You are not letting me concentrate..I warn you don’t look at me this way..nahin toh..

Priya: What did I do? And kya warning de rahe hain aap?

Ram: You are looking so hot..if you don’t stop looking at me like this, I will just carry you off and kiss you senseless!

Priya: Raaaaaam yeh kya aap..koi sunn lega..

Ram: Haha

Ram left a Priya with flaming red cheeks..Oh my God..Ram is TROUBLE!!! Kaise sambhalungi inhein?

Ram just came back and said..

Ram: Haan Mrs Kapoor..just watch out! I am TROUBLE

Priya just gaped..Gosh he could read her like a book!!

The wedding ceremony started after the initial poojas got over Ram and Priya took their places on the dias. They watched Karthik and Natasha with pride and love.

Ram stepped forward to do the Kanyadaan. His eyes filled with tears to give away his Choti. He was very protective about her..she was like his own baby.

Vikram patted Ram on the back..he knew what Ram was going through. It was never easy to give away a daughter in marriage. And Choti was so special to them both..Vikram had tears in his eyes too..

Priya tied the gathbandhan and Karthik and Natasha took their pheras..everyone showered rose petals on the couple..it was a sacred moment..Ram looked at Priya thinking..tomorrow..we shall take our vows too Priya..I will follow each one of them all my life!

Priya looked at Ram and smiled through tears of joy and nodded. Ram looked back at her love overflowing in his eyes. Just a day more..

Karthik tied a mangalsutra and applied sindoor. They took blessings from all the elders..Ram hugged Karthik..

Ram: Look after my Choti ok..

Karthik: Yes sir..I will..she is my life!

Priya: Welcome home Natasha..I promise you, we will keep you happy and smiling always.

Sudhir and Shipra looked on with pride and joy at their son and daughter-in-law. Shipra hugged both of them. The rest of the friends and extended family were out in t he lawns socialising. The Kapoors and the Sharmas went inside with the bride and groom for some  family moments. It was an emotional moment for the whole family.

Sudhir: Dadiji, Ram beta..Krishnaji..we would like to take our daughter-in-law home after lunch..so can we start the bidaai?

Ram: Sir ek minute..I would like to share something very important with all of you.

They looked at Ram with curiosity.  Ram looked and Priya with a re-assuring smile. He just beckoned her with his eyes..Priya walked up to him..Ram took her hands in his and smiled.

Ram: Dadi, Ma..Sir…Priya and I are in love with each other..deeply and want your blessings to get married.

There was a gasp…surprise..shock..silence…..Ram and Priya looked at everyone in the room 

..What was going on in their minds? Gosh..this suspense was killing!

Vikram and Neha came to Ram and Priya. Vikram patted Ram in his back..re-assuring him.

Sudhir clapped suddenly breaking the ice…He rushed to Ram and Priya and hugged them both..the rest of them just followed suit..raining blessings and kisses on them!

Shipra: Sudhir..meine kaha na..something was happening..Priya badli badli si lag rahi hai!!

Priyaaaaa…tum bhee na pehle nahin bata sakti thee..tere shaadi pehle kar dete na?

Dadi: Ram..arrey donon ki shadi ek saath ho sakta tha na? Uff tum log bhee..Oye …koi uss pandit ko bulao…pehle sagai karni hai…

Natasha comes and hugs her bhai…

Natasha: Bhaiiiiiiiii aap bhee chupa rustom nikle..meri shaadi karte karte apni bhee kar rahe? But you know I  am sooooooooooooooo happy for you aur gussa hoon.

Ram: Gussa kyun choti?

Natasha: Aur nahin toh kya..you never told me you were in love with Priya…

Ram laughed..arrey tumne kahaan mujhe batayaa ki tum Karthik se pyar kar rahi thee!

She went and enveloped Priya in a biiiiiiiiiii g hug..what do I call you- Di or bhabhi?

Priya just blushed..Natasha does it matter how you call me? Bas tum sabka pyar chahiye bas.

Shipra and Dadi went hyper trying to figure out when to have the wedding.

Krishnaji came  and hugged both of them kissed  Ram on the forehead, her eyes filled with tears.

Krishnaji: Ram..Priya I am so happy for you both. Pata hai Priya..I always worried that Ram was so alone..but had noticed that after the Kodaikanal visit he was looking so happy. I wished he found what he was looking for. I am glad he found you. Mujhe nahin lagta tumse zyaada acha koi Ram ke liye ho sakta hai. God bless you my children.

Karthik: Di why didn’t you tell us before? You could have married before we did na?

Shipra and the rest of them ganged up: Haan kyun Ram..you waited for so long and now that you finally found your soulmate, why didn’t you tell us?

Ram looked at Priya ..took her hand and said: Haan I wanted to get married to her rightaway..but..Priya continued…Meine mana kiya..

Sudhir: Beta kyun? You know we would have been so happy to know you were in love with Ram. Kya tumhe laga we would need convincing Priya? We trust you beta..you could never make a wrong choice!

Priya hugged her father: Papa aisa nahin hai..but I told Ram we should wait till Natasha and Kartik get married. I wanted them to enjoy their day..exclusively theirs..and all those moments before their wedding..their wedding preparations, shopping, engagement and now this beautiful wedding. Agar hamari shadi bhee same time hoti then sab ka dhyaan bath jaatha na?

Ram casually threw his arm around Priya’s shoulder, Priya tried to move away.  She was squirming uncomfortably. Ram laughed  loudly!

Ram: arrey ab kya hua? Now everyone knows.

Priya blushed. His hands gripped her shoulders tighter.

Ram: Yes, initially I was very disappointed that I could not tell you all. I wanted to marry her immediately and was really angry when she said no. But when I heard her reasons for saying no, I was proud of her. Only Priya can think this way. I am happy and proud and so very lucky to have her in my life.

Dadi: Ab toh jaldi sagai kar dete hain.

Ram: Dadi Sagai nahin....

Dadi: Par kyun?

Ram : Kyunki kal shadi hai !!!!!

Everyone had a jaw drop! KYAAAAAAAAAAAAA???? SHAADI…KAL????

Tumko Dekha Toh-2 Update 21

Ram stared out of the window as the flight took off from Mumbai..it soared and touched the clouds above..his happiness was soaring sky high as well..he made a list of the things he wanted to do..so little time, but yes he wanted everything to be perfect..just like her..his darling biwi!

Priya woke up early, but felt lonely..she did not have anything to look forward to..she took her adrak wali chai to the balcony and sat down quietly thinking..wondering how life took such a beautiful turn. A couple of months ago she did not have any ideas of getting married- forget finding love. Now love, marriage all this was happening so fast. She also felt guilty that the rest of the family were unaware of this situation. How would they react to the sudden announcement? Would they be angry? It was scary.

She knew it was her decision to keep their relationship a secret till Karthik and Natasha married. She never thought it was going to be this sudden wedding! But it was thrilling too..she knew her parents and Ram’s mother too. She knew they would only be too happy that they were marrying! Her parents would feel sad that the wedding would be a very quiet affair..no fuss..and some of their relatives would gripe!! But Priya decided she was not going to think too much about all that- she took a paper and made a list of things she needed to buy before her wedding..HER WEDDING!!! Gosh! If her mother  knew, she would bring the entire shopping mall home! But this was Priya..like Ram said..just some essentials.

She decided to go shopping..alone..she wanted to buy clothes for Ram! Anyway, the rest of the family were going somewhere else!

Having made a list, she was off…a beautiful cream and maroon Sherwani for Ram , some shirts and a dark blue blazer! She couldn’t resist getting him a red pullover! He did look very handsome in those…ooooooh she saw a few silk ties as well!

Priya: (thinking) Oh God..now I know why ma keeps getting so many things- I don’t know every nice shirt I see- I want to see Ram in it!!Well, it is not going to be easy if I carried this home- Ma would want to see!!!

Priya picked up her phone and called Neha.

Priya: Neha…I need a favour yaar!

Neha: Arrey what favour ki baat kar rahi ho? Bolo na..

Priya: Neha..I have done some shopping for Ram..par ..mm ghar nahin le jaa sakti..ma will ask hundred questions..can I give them to you?

Neha: (laughs) Arrey..its ok na..I will keep it with me and get it delivered after you make the announcement..acha bolo kahaan ho? I will meet you..ok why not meet us for lunch? We can discuss a few things Priya... tumhare ghar pe nahin ho sakta.

Priya agreed  to go to Vikram and Neha’s place.. Vikram and Neha exchanged glances when they saw what Priya got for Ram!

Priya: Vikram..do you think Ram would like these clothes I chose?

Vikram: Hey Priya..u know what..you have chosen the kind of clothes Ram would have chosen for himself..you guys are amazing really!!!

They discussed the arrangements ..Priya’s mind kept  wandering to thoughts of Ram..what was he doing?

Ram  had an extremely hectic day putting everything in place, getting things delivered..co-ordinating various things..meeting so many people.

Evening turned  to night..Ram looked around at the impersonal hotel room.. took  his phone and called ..

Ram: Hey biwi…missed you loads..what are you doing?

Priya: Hi Ram..miss you too..I had a hectic day too but mazaa aaya! Shopped for you ..hope you like it!

Ram: Oh woooooow! What did you buy?

Priya: Mmmm nahin bataungi..aapne bhee toh nahin kaha aap kahaan ja rahe hain!

Ram: Awwwwwwww haan..nahin kaha ..ok baba wahan aunga toh dekh lunga na!

They spoke  for a while..about the discussions with Vikram and arrangements for their wedding!

Though they were miles apart..they were very close as well in thoughts..

Ram: Priya..I will be out of coverage for a couple of days..what is your plan tomorrow?

Priya: Oh…I will then go to the spa and relax..aap hee ne kaha na..

Ram: Great biwi..go relax..next time saath mein jayenge ok? Mmm Priya miss you so much..bas jaldi kaam khatam karke aa jaunga!

Priya: Raaaaaam aap bhee na! Jaldi aayiye..miss you lots..

The next couple of days went off in a flash..loads of visitors..visits to KM ..endless shopping..Priya was glad she was so busy..The next day was Natasha’s mehendi ceremony. The farmhouse was abuzz with activity..the gents lounging outside and the women laughing and teasing inside..Natasha was glowing and the beauticians applied a lovely design on her arms and feet..as per the tradition..Karthik’s name was written too! Priya watched all this with happiness and pride. Natasha was a lovely girl..just right for her brother.

Shipra: Priya beta…please mana math karo..mehendi lagwao aaj..PLEASE??

Priya: Haan ma..lagwaungi aaj..and smiled thinking of Ram’s request!

Shipra: Hein Priya!!! Yeh tum keh rahi ho? Haaye issey kya ho gaya..mein bas bol rahi thee aur tu maan bhee gayi?? Arrey bhai jaldi aao aur mehendi lagao meri beti ko..kya pata ussney mind change kar diya toh?

Priya: Nahin ma..aaj definitely..

The beautician came  and applied a very beautiful and intricate design on her palms extending upto her arm…she asked Priya..Ma’am kiska naam likhna hai?

Priya looks out of the window..sees Ram walking inside and slowly says…Raaaaaaam!!

The beautician applied it!!! Priya looked at her hand with confusion and then happiness- It was meant to be after all!

Ram tried hard to come inside but Dadi stood  guard and said ..Oye this is only for women..ja ja I will send some lassi for you!

Ram ( thinks) Dadi..yaar..I don’t want lassi..I want to see my biwi..uff aap bhee na!

Priya could  see Ram outside trying to enter the house and it was really funny..all those requests were  met with a stony look from Dadi , who shooed him away to the lawns! Ram sulked and sat  down on one of the chairs and looked up..

Ahhaaaaaaaa there she was..sitting with her arms extended..looked as if she was applying mehendi..This was not bad..he could just sit here and look at her all day..of course only if his Hitler Dadi let him..she was busy barking orders at everyone!

Priya looked out , saw Ram and smiled!

Vikram: Ram..not fair yaar!Yeh log upar maze kar rahe hain and we are stuck here!

Ram ( turned to Vikram) Haan haan bolo..you will sit and ogle from here and then go and spend time with your biwi..I cannot even go to Priya..my Hitler Dadi is standing right here blocking my entrance, plying me with Lassi..as if that is what I need. Gosh these women!!

Vikram: Yaar abhi se itna??? Oye you will get married in a couple of days then spend all the time you want with your biwi ok?

The evening came to a close with loads of teasing and laughter..music and merry making! The wedding was scheduled the next morning and the Sharmas and other guests left..Ram finally encountered Priya as she was leaving..Ram looked at her Mehendi clad hands..winked at her and whispered…Beaaaaaautiful! See you tomorrow biwi…Natasha ke shadi ke baad…we will tell our families..ok?

Ram could barely sleep at night..on one side he thought of his Choti- Natasha. She was his pet. Tomorrow she would go away with her husband..he hoped she would be happy in life- Karthik was a nice guy and Ram was sure he would keep Natasha very happy. The Sharmas were wonderful people..especially Priya…his Priya..Mrs Priya Ram Kapoor..that sounded real nice!!!

He could not wait to share this with family..he worried if they would be shocked and angry..the fact that he could not wait anymore..the more they waited, the bigger the wedding would become, because every industrialist, celebrity, politician wanted to be a part of the wedding!! Ram finally decided that this was the best option..maybe they could have a lavish get- together..yuck that sounded so bad..he decided a small reception for his closest business associates and Priya’s friends..and all that was only after their honeymoon…Ram’s thoughts just flew..ahaaaaaaaaa the honeymoon..Gosh that was something he planned!! Poor Priya had no clue..she was going to be in for a big surprise!!

 He hoped she liked all that he got for her..her wedding saree in cream and maroon..intricate zari work..very exclusive. He got a beautiful necklace with pearls and rubies..not that she needed them..his Priya looked gorgeous in anything she wore! She looked radiant and that mehendi did something to him..Ram thought..would the colour deepen? He had heard the women say that the colour of the mehendi reflected the love of the girl’s husband..he smiled thinking of Priya’s mehendi!!

Priya wished everyone goodnight and went into her room..She looked at her hands..Ram..it looked so nice..she was filled with happiness but was also anxious! Tomorrow Natasha would be married..and Ram would announce their plans..how would the family take the news?

Ram was very irritated. He walked inside looking furious..how dare he say that? He did not see Priya watching him!

Ram walked towards the stairs. Priya saw this change and just quietly followed him to the terrace. The laughter and revelry downstairs did nothing to change his mood. He stood facing away the door, staring blankly outside..hands holding the railing tight. Priya just stood watching him..she quietly went behind him and..
Priya: Ram..are you alright? Kya hua?
Ram turned around to see Priya. He looked puzzled!
Ram: Priya..tum kaise ?? Yahaan?
Priya placed her palm on his hand..Ram you looked angry when you walked inside. Bas I wanted to know if there was a problem..
Ram wondered what to say..
Priya..woh..woh..anyway doesn’t matter..He looked away looking sheepish. Obviously, he could not tell her that he came stomping like a 5 year old having a tantrum!
Priya : Arrey yeh kya baat hui..you came looking as if you got punched in the gut..aur gusse mein your face was all red..ab itney bhole bann rahe hain!! Kya hua boliye na..
Ram: (Looking Sheepish) mmmm sab tumhari wajah se..
Priya: Meri wajah se? Maine kya kiya?
Ram: Tum itni…jo ho..
Priya raises her palm and says..
Priya: Ram bas kijiye..bahut hua..kya ho gaya hai aapko? What did you call me at the entrance?? Cheeeeeee…koi sunn leta toh kitna embarrassing hota..
Ram: Hein ..ismey chee wali baat kya hogayi..meine pehle bhee kaha..you are my wife..I was just admiring you aur bas bol diya jo mann mein tha..and hello…I did not shout for everyone to hear.. sirf for you..toh kya galath kiya..
Priya: Ram..we are not married..please jab tak shadi nahin hoti please aap aisee baatein math kijiye.
Ram: (Holding Priya by her shoulders) Kya hua Priya..itna gussa? Priya we are getting married next week..but in my mind, you are already my wife. I love and respect you a lot. But I also find you attractive..ismey galath kya hai?
Priya: Ram ..I don’t know..I don’t feel comfortable.
Ram: Ok..ok nahin kahunga..Ram just turned away.
Priya: Ram..Raaaaam..listen na? Just a week more..I am yours na? Phir kyun gussa ho rahe hain?
Ram: Haan gussa nahin aana chahiye..duniya bhar ke log..na jaane..kya kya..
Priya: What duniya bhar ke log? Kisine kuch kaha kya?
Ram: Haan..woh mera naalayak cousin aaya na US se? Woh puch raha tha tumhare baare mein..
Priya: Acchhhhhhhaaaaaaa isiliye janaab itney gusse mein the? The guy in the dark blue coat!!
Ram: Tumhein coat bhee yaad hai?
Priya: (teasing) Coat yaad hai because mein soch rahi thee..this colour would suit my Ram so much..jab shopping jaungi I will buy for him!!
Ram( face bright) Really!!!!
Priya: Aur nahin toh kya..I was singing and dancing with the most handsome man..aapke alaava koi dikhta hee nahin kya karoon?
Ram pulled her to him and held her tight..Acha kya karna chahthi ho? Ya mein kuch…
Priya: Noooooooooooo Raaaaaaaaaam please chodiye na..
Ram: Nahin chodunga..admit it..you love being close to me..
Priya: Haan I love being close to you..Raaaaam koi aa jayega…
There is a cough and laughter…
Vikram and Neha stand there laughing..
Vikram: Aa jayega nahin Priya..aa gaye!!!
Priya moves away embarrassed..Ram is super irritated.
Ram: Yaar tu bada besharam hai..ainvayi tapak jaatha hai..haddi kahin ke donon..
Vikram: Oye..tu party chodke chala aaya..dekha toh Priya bhee gayab ho gayi..ab Priya ko protect karna thaa na..isliye hum log pahuch gaye..Woh kya hai naa..hum donon ne dekha woh entrance wala pyar, singing dancing wala pyar..romance kuch zyaada nahin hua?
Ram: Neha tere pati ko bol ki bahut interfere kar raha hai..pitega mujhse ek din!
Vikram: Ok ok…gussa khatam..actually we came here because we wanted to discuss the wedding arrangements with you.
Ram, Priya, Vikram and Neha sit around a small table.
Vikram: Ram ..you will announce your wedding plans after Natasha gets married. Natasha and Karthik are leaving for the US 5 days after the wedding..so you will have to get married before they leave..
Ram: (quickly) We will get married the next day!!!
Priya: ( wide-eyed) Raaaaaam..next day???? Poor papa will have a shock of his life..how will they arrange..shopping..catering..Gosh invitations bhee nahin print kar sakte..
Ram: Priya…Priya relax..we only need a Pandit to conduct the wedding..clothes shopping will get done..rahi baat invitations ki..it is going to be only both our families na? Koi zaroorat nahin hai..let us have a simple and beautiful wedding..Vikram just inform the panditji and make arrangements..mm I will get her mangalsutra and wedding saree..get some gifts for Choti and Karthik and also family members ke liye..I don’t know they might be a bit disappointed but this is how we want it to be- just personal and beautiful!
Neha: Ram..woh sab theek hai..honeymoon ka plan banaa diya kya?
Ram: Neha..chup kar..I have lots of work to do..have no time to take a break and travel overseas.
Vikram: Haan Neha..Ram has ‘lots’ of work to do..samjha kar…tu bhee na!!!
Vikram: Chal we will leave now..Ram tumhara early morning flight hai na? Chalo phir milte hain shadi ke din..phone pe baat karte hain..bye and good night..arrey donon neechey aa jao otherwise sab log mujhe khaa jayenge!
Ram: haan tum log jao..we will come.
Ram: Priya…are you feeling bad I won’t be here for 5 days? I will try and be back before Natasha’s mehendi..kya tum bhee mehendi lagaogi?
Priya: Mm thoda disappointed you are going away but its ok..zindagi bhar ka saath hai na Ram..I will wait. Mehendi..mm I normally don’t apply but iss baar karungi..aapke liye!
Ram looked happy..cannot wait to see you !
Ram: Priya..I maybe very busy in the next few days..but will finish everything and be back ok?
Priya: Ram..I will miss you..come soon..and Ram..can I buy your wedding clothes?
Ram: Of course Priya..issmey puchne wali kya baat hai..you choose ok?
Ram hugged her tight and released  her ..see??? Meine line cross nahin ki..but my patience is running out..just a few more days ok?
Priya blushed and said : Ok shadi ke baad pakka
Ram: Pakka kya?
Priya: Raaaaaam please…
Ram laughs ok darling biwi nahin puchunga ..chalo let us go downstairs log dhoondenge hamein!
Priya : Mm..I will go Ram..aap aayiye…and Ram..
Ram: Haan??
Priya: You are looking very nice in this Sherwani..Love you Ram..Jaldi wapas aayiye..I will be waiting for you.
Ram: Haaye haaye biwi ko itna pyaar..and see all this time tum meri class le rahi thee..you were also stealing glances!!!
Priya: Haan..I was ..but I did not comment!!!
Ram: Ok ok..this is enough for me that my biwi finds me hot and handsome!!! Chalo go downstairs mein abhi aaya.
Priya: Mm..par don’t feel like going…Raaaaaaam kal jaana zaroori hai kya?
Ram hugs her tight, cups her cheeks..sees the tears threatening to fall..
Ram: Arrey Priya…mein kahaan vanvaas ja raha hoon..bas I have some work..jo bahut bahut jaldi khatam karke aa jaunga..ok? No tears darling..
Priya: Mmm jaldi aayiye..
Ram: Priya..ek kaam karo..you rest these three four days because mmmm sone nahin doonga tumhein.. winks
Priya moved out of his embrace..Raaaaaaaaaaam aap phir shuru ho gaye!
Ram: Meine khatam kahaan ki?
Priya: Ok dinner lag gaya shayad, I will go down aap bhee aayiye..
Priya walked away..Ram whistles..Priya laughs and walks down.
Ram thought..How can someone love me so much that she cannot bear to be stay away even for a few days…he was lucky indeed..he felt guilty that he did not tell her anything about his plans or where he was going..but he wanted to see her face when he surprised her!
Dinner was on and the conversation was lively and lots of teasing..it was just close family and friends.. Priya was watching Ram..what he ate..she simply raised her eyebrow at him..he laughed and took some more julab jamun! Priya gave him an angry look..he pleaded with his eyes..
Vikram: Ankhon hee ankhon mein ishaara ho gaya..lalalalaala
Ram: ( muttering) Vikram maar khayega..
Vikram: chal ja aur ek gulab jamun doon? Dekhte hain kaun maar khata hai? Wahaan se ishaare dekhe maine..Ram yaar..teri abhi se yeh haal hai
Ram: Vikram yaar..teri biwi wahan se ishaare kar rahi hai tune nahin notice kiya..ab tu pitega ussey!!!!

The evening came to a close as the guests start leaving. The Kapoors thanked everyone warmly and lots of shopping plans were made..while all the talking was going on Ram and Priya were in their own world..It is not easy to say bye…
Priya quietly said: See you Ram..have a good trip…but thinking..please don’t leave me and go..I will miss you.
Ram: Thanks Priya..have fun shopping..thinking I’ll miss you too baby..I promise I will make it up for you darling..
Yet another trip..yet another separation…but just for a little while..for a great reason..
