Update 19
Natasha’s engagement..It was a beautiful evening. The Kapoors, the Sharmas and of course
the Shergills were busy making preparations for the beautiful event. Only close relatives and friends were present. It was exclusive..the press was not there. Both Ram and Natasha loved their privacy and so did Karthik. For all the wealth, they were simple people! The able staff looked after all arrangements, flowers, decoration, lights and music…everything just elegant. There was no indecent show of wealth..the whole place just highlighted one thing- Peace. Love was in the air.
Natasha was getting dressed in her beautiful mauve lehenga..her make-up flawless..her jewellery –classy. All that class could not hide her nervousness.. Dressed beautifully, ready in time – the whole family went awwwwwwwwwwwwww when they saw her..She was extremely beautiful..Ram and Vikram looked on with pride at their Choti..but they could not resist teasing her!
Vikram: Ram..dekha apni choti ko..abhi abhi diapers mein bhaag rahi thee..ab toh packing karke pati ke saath jaane ke liye bilkul tayaar!
Ram: Haan yaar bilkul..oye aaj teri engagement hai..shadi ke liye ab 5 days aur…suitcase pack bhee kar liye?? Kahin kuch program change toh nahin hua??? Vikram aaj engagement hee hai na?
Natasha blushed..and said Bhai..aap bhee? Vikram bhai toh hamesha tease karthe hain mujhe..
Vikram hugged Natasha..said..Oye Choti..see yeh humara haq hai ok? We will tease you..even after marriage :P ..aur waise..tu zaraa apne bhai se puch..tumse zyaada woh uthaavala ho raha hai teri shaadi ke liye :P
Ram glared at Vikram..Chup bhait tu..chain se chedne bhee nahin deta.. acha Vikram isspe nazar rakh..kahin Karthik ke saath kahin …whistles..Natasha hit him playfully and turned to her Dadi and Krishnaji to take their blessings..all of them were emotional to see their little Natasha all grown up looking gorgeous in her engagement dress.
Ram: Chal..mein bhee tayyaar ho jaatha hoon..sab log aate hee honge!
Vikram: Whistling…haan haan ‘sab’ log aate hee honge Ram…take your time..punched Ram on his arm, winked and left.
Ram was thankful nobody noticed all that teasing!!
He went to his room, took out the Sherwani..and started getting dressed with a song in his lips, took his phone out and called Priya..
Ram: Hey biwi….kya kar rahi ho?
Priya: Hi hubby…iss samay kya kar rahi hoon? Of course I am going to get dressed! Yeh kya sawal hai?
Ram: Ahaaaaaaa I see…
Priya: No..you do not :P
Ram: Arrey..yeh kya baat hui Priya..acha suno na…give me a kiss na?
Priya: Raaaaaam yeh kya maang rahe hain aap?
Ram: Arrey phone pe hee tho maang raha hoon..otherwise kahaan meri kismet itni achi hai..tumne jo don’t cross lines wala rule daal diya hai.
Priya: Raaaaaaam…please samjha kijiye naa…just a question of a few more days..I am all yours after marriage..manaa thodi karungi after marriage.
Ram: Look…I will note down today’s date and time..baad mein jab bhee maanguga dena padega..yaad rakho..
Priya: laughs…Mr Ram Kapoor…aap bade besharam ho..ufffff
Ram: Mrs Priya Kapoor..aur bahut demanding bhee…
Both laugh..
Ram: Priya…let your hair loose darling..please?
Priya: I will Ram..aapke liye.
Ram: Priya..Natasha ki shaadi is in five days..I have to go out of station. Have some important work to finish. I will be back for her wedding. Ok?
Priya: What? Five days Ram? What will I do ? Abhi batha rahe hain?
Ram: Priya, there is an important thing I want to do before our wedding..yeh hamare liye hai. Ok? And see..you will be busy too with wedding preparations..I suggest you just do a bit of shopping..zyaada kuch nahin..wedding saree I will get for you ok?
Priya: Ram , aapke bina shopping for wedding?
Ram: Ok baba we can go together and get whatever you need ok? But haan in these five days just relax and get what you need..
Priya: mmm
Ram: And Priya…?? Once the engagement is over and dance khatam hoga will you meet me at the terrace..I want to talk to you before I leave early tomorrow morning..and smile…
Priya: ok Ram..I will come.
They hung up the phone..Priya was thoughtful..aisa kya kaam ho sakta hai jiske baare mein woh mujhse share bhee nahin karna chahte? And five days without him? Soch nahin sakti kaise katenge..
Priya draped her turquoise blue silk saree..it was a lovely creation, just meant for her. Her blouse plunging deep down her back …there was a dori with a tiny ornament that fell down her back making it even more beautiful. Minimal make-up..Priya was not someone who had to wear make-up to make a statement! She was just grace and class personified! She wore long turquoise earrings though and a dainty chain with a tiny pendant..her make- up done, she wore heeled sandals dreaming of the date with Ram when she looked so small near him…he was really tall!
The farmhouse wore a festive look- tucked safely away from prying eyes, it was dreamhouse . It overlooked the western ghats..serene and breathtaking. Cars came in bringing only family members and very very close friends. Beautiful flowers greeted the guests. Ram, stood at the entrance greeting every guest with a warm smile. But he was waiting for one particular person to arrive. Finally in came a black Mercedes Benz- it was the Sharmas…Ram’ s heart started pounding! How could he wait to see her??
Priya’s eyes were on the tall handsome man in the turquoise blue sherwani..looking regal and elegant..she was the last one to get out of the car much to Ram’s annoyance! She looked at him with open admiration while he raised an eyebrow..he greeted everyone – took the blessings of Sudhir and Shipra, hugged Karthik…as they walked in..he just winked at Priya and silently mouthed…sexy biwi!!! Priya was open mouthed and shhhed him! Ram simply kept looking at the retreating figure of Priya..the retreating lovely figure..ahaaaaaa her back and her long straight hair..
Ram (thinking ) Ok Biwi..turn back..turn back..turn back..
As if on cue..Priya turned back and glanced at Ram..Ram just grinned..his wide grin became a sheepish one..there was a tap on his shoulder..who else Mr and Mrs Vikram Shergill!!!
Ram: Oh teri..hamesha galath waqt pe pahunch jaatha hai..haddi kahin ka!!
Vikram: Acha beta…hogaya????
Ram..with a blank look..Kya?
Vikram: Nahin yeh jo romance chal raha thaa uski baat kar rahi thaa mein ;)
Neha: Ram… tum kuch zyaada nahin ghoorthe?? Koi dekh leta toh?
Ram: Oye chup both of you..hamesha mere peechey pade rehthe ho—Vikram tu kitna irresponsible hai- choti behen ki engagement aur tu abhi aa raha hai?
Vikram: Haaaaw dekha Neha!! Yeh yahaan romance kar raha hai aur bolta hai mein irresponsible hoon..acha ab toh andar jaayega na? Priya andar gayi hai..Ram ko kitna kaam hai!!
All of them shared a big laugh and said chal go inside and I will receive guests..
The engagement was a beautiful ceremony. Natasha and Karthik could not take their eyes off each other..there was a fair amount of ribbing..and then blushing..In all this Ram had eyes for only his Priya..Priya was a proud sister and she did look radiant in her blue saree. She could not but help glancing at Ram and their eyes connected all the time..Ram just wished he could stand next to her, hold her hand and enjoy the moment..instead they were standing across each other wistfully glancing at one another and yearning to be together..
There was a live band performing- Natasha and Karthik wanted to dance and so did many others! Natasha wanted her bhai to sing for her..one of her all time favourites and Karthik threw a curve ball at his sister!
Karthik: Di you must sing with Ram sir…please Di..we all know how well you sing..
Priya was shocked!
Priya: Kaaaaaaaaarthik yeh kya…no bhai I cannot ..itne logon ke samne…bilkul nahin…please chod do mujhe…
Ram was having fun..
Ram thought: haaye haaye meri Choti..what will I not do to go and stand next to my Priya..and sing with her..arrey why not…how can I let go of this chance..he just slowly walked towards her..
Priya was looking wide-eyed and lovely..Ram was busy trying not to drool and keep a straight face.
Ram: Priya…please sing with me..see Choti and Karthik ke engagement ki khushi mein let us join..Please..his eyes begged her and told something else..
Priya quietly nodded.
The band played the piano and Ram started singing…

The guests stood mesmerised by the singing..but Ram and Priya were in their own world..this song was meant for them..their life..their journey!
Ram continued singing..his mind registering the lyrics of the song..the truth in it. His life was barren and empty before she came into it..She came…she filled his life with happiness…their story..it was a unique one indeed!

Ram and Priya danced..the rest of the world forgotten..it was just them today..this moment.. They were lost in each other..the thunderous applause brought them back to reality..Priya moved away embarrassed.. Ram just smiled and started mingling with the guests..one of his cousins who had come down from the States remarked..
Ram..who was the gorgeous lady you were dancing with? Oh My God…she looks soooooo beautiful..
Ram gave him a sharp look..
Ram: Look..she is off limits..just find someone like you..
Vikram could not but laugh..Ram walked inside quickly..irritated like hell! Priya wondered what happened to Ram- one minute he was soooo happy and the next minute he looked furious about something!!
